Acupuncture is used to treat a wide variety of diseases, disorders and symptoms.
This includes:
- Pain (back pain, knee pain, arthritis, migraines)
- Reproductive health
- Digestive health
- Skin conditions
- Allergies
- Insomnia
- Mental health (e.g., anxiety, depression, stress)
Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into the body. The needles stimulate sensory neurons and release chemicals such as serotonin into muscles, the spinal cord, and the brain. This reaction promotes the body's natural healing abilities and elevates physical and emotional well-being.
Acupuncture should not cause pain. Most people experience little to no sensation. Common sensations include feelings of warmth, heaviness, and occasionally slight tingling at the site of insertion.
You may need multiple acupuncture treatments to experience effects. On average, 4 to 6 treatments are recommended though patients may begin to notice a difference in as few as 1 to 2 treatments. Everyone responds differently to care which uniquely positions acupuncture as personalized medicine. During your appointment, we'll work together to find a treatment plan that works for you and your healthcare needs.

Chinese herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years and is considered to be very safe when prescribed by a licensed acupuncturist. If you are taking medication (prescribed and/or non-prescribed), please let your practitioner know so they can create an herbal formula that is right for you.
